As it is always with the authorities, yet another goof- up caused 1188 students from Telengana, to miss out the chance of bagging a seat in one of the top engineering institutes through joint seat allocation. The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) failed to communicate the revised marks of the students to the CBSE due to which these students got blank rank cards in the JEE main results that were recently declared.
CBSE board had notified all the States to submit the revised marks of the students by 25, June, 2015. Despite this notification the Telengana state board failed to submit the marks. CBSE announced the JEE Main ranks on Wednesday, and the Joint Seat Allocation Authority has also initiated the process of counselling for the applicants.
Realising the blunder, the aggrieved parents and students reached out to the concerned authorities. They also staged a demonstration before the State Secretariat in Hyderabad to protest against this careless attitude, which could have cost the students an opportunity to avail admission through the joint seat allocation this year
“My son applied for verification of marks in a couple of answer scripts and it helped him improve his marks . But, the BIE authorities failed to communicate the same to the CBSE,” lamented A. Ramakrishna, parent of a student.
Quick enough to realise this goof-up, the State Government rushed senior officials to Delhi to coordinate with the HRD Ministry, CBSE. The Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the team of senior officers led by Principal Secretary Ranjeev Acharya will stay put in Delhi till the first list of seat allotment was over. He also asked students and parents not to worry. “The ordeal is over now and the mistake rectified. We got confirmation that the revised marks have been accepted by the CBSE. By July 4, the ranks of these students will be calculated with a fraction-100.1,-100.2 and the likes so by July 5, the students have to fill in their choice. In the first round of counselling scheduled for July 7 itself, those eligible will surely benefit,” said the Dy. CM.
While responding to a question seeking action against the responsible authorities, he added, “My first priority is to ensure that no student is left out due to mistakes by some officials. We will deal with the matter strictly especially with those who are to be blamed. They will not be spared.”
