Kota saw one more suicide on Tuesday. A 17-year old student who had come to Kota to prepare for his JEE committed suicide by immolating himself and then jumping off the third floor of his hostel.
Assistant Sub Inspector, Mahaveer Nagar Police Station, Ramesh Chand Bhargava informed PaGaLGuY that hostel mates of the student, who were eyewitness to the incident, disclosed to the police that they saw Yogesh in flames while jumping off from the hostel building. His body has been sent for autopsy to the Government Maharao Bhim Singh Hospital in Kota.
The family members of the deceased student have been
informed about the suicide. The student had arrived to Kota on July 20 this year and was enrolled in one
of the top coaching classes for JEE preparation. Police are still uncertain
about the trigger that caused the suicide. “There has been no suicide note left
behind, so it is difficult to know if it was pressure in studies or anything
else that led the student to take such a drastic step,” said Bhargava. As of now the hostel room has been cordoned off and the mobile call
records are being verified.
This incident has taken the tally of suicides to 6 in the
last couple of months. The most common reason for most of the suicides so far has been study pressure leading to emotional stress.
