Admissions to undergraduate engineering courses available at various engineering colleges in Jammu & Kashmir is conducted by the Jammu Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations.
Jammu & Kashmir is also home to other institutes of repute like the NIT Srinagar. The Union Government has proposed to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Jammu and Kashmir.
This year, admission to engineering colleges in Jammu & Kashmir is based on JKCET (Jammu Kashmir Common Entrance Test) 2016. The exam will assess students’ knowledge in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The exam will consist of 2 papers, Paper 1 will have 60 questions each on Physics and Chemistry while Paper 2 on Mathematics will have 60 questions. Each question will carry one mark for every correct answer and will have a negative marking of 0.25 mark for every incorrect answer.

In this particular article, let us take a look at the SSM College of Engineering, Srinagar.
The SSM College of Engineering is based in Srinagar and is affiliated to University of Kashmir and Maharshi Dayanand University . The institute was established in 1988 and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The institute is also approved by the Directorate of Technical education (DTE) Jammu and Kashmir.
The institute has all the necessary infrastructure like a labs, library, bank, seminar halls and transport facility. The college conducts co-curricular and extracurricular activities for the students.
