The SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts the CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam for recruiting the candidates for Group “B and C” categories at various Government Departments and Offices. SSC CGL exam will be conducted in 4 stages i.e Tiers. The first two tiers in SSC CGL will be conducted online and the last two will be conducted in offline mode. The candidates who are able to clear all the 4 tiers will be shortlisted for the posts.
The SSC CGL for 2017 was conducted on the months of February and March 2017. This was the Tier-II exam for 2017. The results were expected to be released in the months of July or August. A court case was filed as there were doubts relating to the leakage of the Tier-II question paper. The students’ group has given a ‘Writ Petition’ against SSC CGL Tier-II exam. It was likely to be canceled as there were disputes regarding the leakage of question papers for Tier-II exam. Only after the disputes regarding the exam aroused, this problem was noticed. The protests for canceling the exams were done in large numbers and also a CBI probe was ordered to deal with this issue.
According to the update from the Supreme Court during 2018, it has given its willingness to cancel the SSC CGL 2017 examination. It also suggested that the number of candidates involved and were favored in the question paper leaking cannot be calculated appropriately. The court also claimed that it cannot allow any unfair means for passing in the SSC CGL exams. The court also asked the authority to seek instructions if the exam was to be canceled due to the difficulty in identifying persons involved in the leakage of SSC CGL 2017 Tier-II question papers.
Later CBI which was investigating the question paper of SSC CGL leakage case stated that FIR was filed against 17 persons in connection to the leak of the SSC CGL Tier-II question paper. So the court stated there was no need for the cancellation of the exam.
The case regarding the SSC exam cancellation was held today i.e. January 17, 2019. The argument was that the culprits of the question paper leakage were identified. And a committee will be formed and scope of reference will be communicated in which it will be decided among the other things like whether the cheating took place and whether the culprits related to this have been identified.
The next date for this hearing was given as on January 22, 2019. So, let’s hope for a better judgment for this case.
