Today, June 19, 2017 is the last date to register for the Staff Selection Commission’s (SSC) Combined Graduate Level Exam (CGLE) 2017. However, since June 11, candidates have been all over social media ranting about their inability to register.
When PaGaLGuY asked an SSC official about the outburst on social media, this is what he said. “The server has been hanging because of the last minute rush. As of June 16, about 35 to 40 lakh candidates had registered.”
Earlier, June 16, 2017 was the last date to apply for SSC CGLE, this was further extended till June 19, 2017. The official added, “We extended the deadline previously after noticing the sudden traffic on SSC CGL 2017 registration page. The server IS hanging due to this last minute rush, and nothing else.”
SSC conducts the CGLE on behalf of various departments and ministries that function under the central government.

Selection of candidates will be done based on their performance in four tiers, including two online, one pen and paper mode descriptive, and Computer Skills tests.
- SSC CGL Tier 1 examination: Worth 200 marks will consists of four papers; General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
- SSC CGL Tier 2 examination: Worth 800 marks will consists of four papers; Quantitative Ability, English Language, Statistics, and General Studies (Finance and Economics). (Statistics is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and General Studies is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO)/Assistant Accounts Officer(AAO).
- SSC CGL Tier 3 examination: Candidates who clear tier 2 examination will then sit for a pen and paper mode descriptive paper of English of 100 Marks.
- SSC CGL Tier 4 examination: Those candidates who have applied for posts that requires computer skills will have to sit for a skill test conducted by the commission.
