SMOT offers MBA in association with Saint Mary’s University, Canada

PGPM Regular, Full Time

16 Months PGPM (4 terms , 4 months each term) is an accelerated program most suited for young aspirants who are looking for career shift to management. This program is designed for students with no significant industry work experience.

This is a full time regular program wherein the students have to complete 24 courses doing 6 courses per term. Any basic degree will be the entry level requirement.

Program Objective

This master’s level program in Business Management – PGPM in SMOT – is designed to sharply focus on key business management functions and roles adhering to internationally acclaimed norms and practices. The students passing out of this program will be CAREER READY to be absorbed in to highly acclaimed companies of international standing.

Program Description

Broadly, any business management program encompasses two phases. The first phase, called foundation phase, typically the first half of the program duration, focuses on foundation courses in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources and Organizational Behavior, Marketing, Economics, Information Technology, Operations, Quantitative Methods and Managerial Communication.

The second half of the program in SMOT, called career phase, typically the second half of the program duration, is designed to give unique mileage to the students to choose from the following options:

* Concentration based on a functional area such as Marketing, Finance, Operations, HR or IT.
* Concentration based on a specific management role such as Business Analyst, Business Development Manager, Project Manager, Operations Manager, Brand Manager, Financial Consultant, HR Consultant etc. that you would be choosing after completing the program.
* Concentration based on a specific industry such as Manufacturing, IT, Banking and Insurance, Healthcare and so on.

Detailed term wise course work will be made available to the students at the time of induction.

Admission Requirements

The applicants should have a formal bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution in India or abroad. The candidate’s academic performance in the pre-collegiate education and participation and significant achievements in extra-curricular activities will largely determine his/her chances of being selected for the program. However, there are specific admission requirements in SMOT. A student may be required to commit, tentatively at least, a career option in one of the functional areas such as finance, marketing, operations, human resources or information technology. In addition, applicants will have demonstrated certain qualities that are dear to SMOT students such as powerful vision for the future. Applicants are also evaluated based on their performance in the entrance test conducted by SMOT. The test generally evaluates a candidate for his/her aptitude and verbal ability. Further, a candidate will appear for a personal interaction with the faculty of SMOT. Letters of Reference are important requirement for admission in SMOT and are to be submitted along with the application in prescribed format. These letters are indicative of your connectivity to people with significant level of achievement in their professional life.

Class commences on September 5, 2007 with one week of “Induction Program”. Regular classes will commence immediately thereafter.

Institutional Partnership

SMOT has entered in to LoI to collaborate with Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada for co-certification. SMU is among the top universities in Canada and the B School in SMU is AACSB accredited.”

The collaboration also enables SMOT students to transfer credits and pursue higher studies if they choose to.

Faculty from SMU will teach in SMOT and engage in research with the faculty of SMOT as a result of this arrangement.

SMOT has signed up partnership agreement with Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CAMC).By this partnership,

* Students of SMOT will have access to CAMC’s flagship program. This will benefit those who intend to specialize in a Consulting Career Vertical – Essentials of Management Consulting – the best practices common body of knowledge in management consulting.
* CAMC will deploy its faculty expert pool to teach students of SMOT.
* CAMC will endorse the Management Consulting Track offered in SMOT, which entails students of SMOT to opt for further international certification if they choose to.
