Final Placements at Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay culminated with 119 offers from 62 companies for an effective placement batch of 94 students.

Procter & Gamble and Deloitte made 7 offers each, ending up to be the highest recruiters. ICICI, Accenture and Yes Bank were the other three among the top 5 recruiters.

A total of 17 pre-placement offers were made to the batch, of which 15 were accepted. Two students opted out, of which one is working on a startup based on cloud computing services while the other has been on a sabbatical.

The number of recruiting companies has reduced from 68 in 2010 to 62 this year. Commenting on the reason, an SJM SoM spokesperson said, “Many of the prime recruiters made significantly more number of offers as compared to the previous year and thus there were fewer companies. The proportion of companies from different sectors has remained the same to a large extent. There is a slight reduction in the proportion of manufacturing companies and an increase in consulting and technology companies.”

Consulting

Ernst & Young, KPMG, PwC, Accenture, Deloitte, Capgemini Consulting, Avalon Consulting, Bristlecone, Cognizant and Global eProcure. Profiles were offered in Strategy consulting, Strategy and Business Transformation, Business consulting, Supply chain consulting, IT strategy and Business advisory.

Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI)

JP Morgan Chase, Citibank, Nomura, CRISIL, JM Financial, HSBC, ICICI, Yes Bank. Profiles ranged from Investment banking, Project Finance, Corporate Finance, Corporate Banking, Risk Management to Equity Research. CRISIL offered the Infrastructure Advisory role.

FMCG

Procter & Gamble emerged as the largest recruiter this year. Other companies that represented this sector were Johnson & Johnson, Asian Paints, Godrej Consumer Products, Colgate Palmolive, Marico, Heinz, Coca Cola, LOreal, etc. This sector offered profiles in marketing, operations management, supply chain management, procurement and general management.


Manufacturing

Cummins, Tata Motors, UB Group, Dr Reddys Laboratories, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Shipping Corporation of India, etc. They offered various profiles across the functional domains of Marketing, Operations, HR, Business development and Leadership.

Technology

Microsoft, Amazon, HCL, Cognizant, Wipro and Infosys.

Others

Conglomerates like Lodha Group, GE and Welspun offered profiles in the areas of Business Development, Leadership, Marketing and Finance. Vodafone, Idea and Mercator Lines offered profiles in marketing, corporate finance, HR and operations domains.

Recruiters from niche sectors like semiconductors, pharmaceuticals too made offers to SJM SoM students.
