I. Shipping Corporation of India Job Notification

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is inviting applications for recruitment of Machinist Mechanical (MM), Trainee Machinist Mechanical, Deck Fitter (POM)  and Trainee Deck Fitter on DIRECT CONTRACT employment. The eligible candidates can appear for walk in interview on 30 August 2018.

Machinist Mechanical & Deck Fitter: 50 Posts

IV. Eligibility Criteria for Machinist Mechanical & Deck Fitter Job

General Criteria

a) Minimum 6 months sailing experience in last 3 years from date of selection the rank of Machinist Mechanical/ Deck fitter on vessel GRT more than 500.

b) Maximum age limit  is 45 years for General candidates, 48 years for OBC candidates and 50 years for SC/ST candidates.

c) Maximum age limit is 30 Yrs for Tr. Fitters (TR.MMs & Tr. POMs) for General candidates, 33 Yrs. OBC Candidates and 35 Yrs for SC/ST Candidates.

d) Must have technical qualifications as mentioned below.

e) Candidate must be reported well from his previous vessel/ employer.

f) Candidate must be medically fit for sea service as per present M.S. Medical Rules 2010.

g) Candidate must be in possession of Indian CDC & Passport, which should be valid for at least one year from date of selection.

h) Candidate must be in possession of PAN Card & INDOS NO.

Technical Qualifications

The following technical qualifications are required for the Machinist Mechanical/ Deck fitter as per Fleet Personnel  Guidelines  :‐

a) Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from recognized polytechnic or National Trade     Certificate in the trade of Machinist Mechanical/Marine Machinist Mechanical or Diesel / Motor Mechanic or Machinist or Welder issued by National Council of Training in Vocational Trade, Ministry of Labour, Government of India (NCTVT) or by the Industrial Training Institute of State Government (ITI). OR Two years Trade Apprentice certificate from marine workshop in the trade of Machinist Mechanical or Diesel / Motor Mechanic or Machinist.

b) Candidate should be proficient in any of these below.
i) Welding and Cutting
ii) Fabrication and proficiency in fitting.
iii) Lathe, drill and machine operation.
iv) Ship related maintenance work.

c) Candidate may be in possession of Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD) from DG approved Institute.

d) Candidate must be in possession of 4 mandatory certificate as per STCW 2010 from DG   approved Institutes.
I. Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting.
II. Personal Survival Techniques.
III. Elementary First Aid.
IV. Personal Safety and Social Responsibility.

e) Candidate may be in possession of Helicopter Underwater Escape Training course. Otherwise, candidate has to do this course after selection if posted in OSVs.

f) Candidate may be in possession of valid Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from his native place issued by an officer not below the rank of SI of police. Such PCC shall have been issued within a period not exceeding 3 months from date of selection. Otherwise candidate have to bring this PCC after selection.
