Selection Procedure of CMAT 2019

CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) is an online computer-based test which conducts by the National Testing Agency, India. It is a national level admission test to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes. Today, we will talk about every small thing of CMAT.

Selection Process of CMAT – There are three steps of selection –

  1. Computer-based test
  2. Group Discussion
  3. Personal interview

In a group discussion, candidates separated into a group, and they will be given a topic to discuss for 5 to 20 minutes. In Personal interview, candidate have to appear before a panel of experts/faculty members who ask some questions about the candidate’s hobbies, background, etc. Every college holds these rounds individually. The final list of selected students come on the basis of performances in these three rounds.

Eligibility Criteria of CMAT – There are some eligibility criteria for candidates who willing to appear in CMAT.

Format of CMAT – CMAT is a three-hour test which conducts in two different shifts. This test has four parts, and those parts are –

There are 25 questions in each portion. Each right answer carries four marks, while each wrong answer carrier one negative mark. This exam conducts on a single day, in two different shifts. This exam conducts in English language only. This is a 3-hour test, but Visually Impaired or Cerebral Palsy Candidates get a time extension of twenty minutes for every hour, so overall, in a 3-hour test, they get an extra hour.

Syllabus of CMAT – The syllabus of CMAT is like this –

  1. Quantitative Techniques – From this section, questions will come from Algebra, Time-Speed-Distance, Allegation & Mixtures, Geometry, graph, Data interpretation, problem-solving, data sufficiency, arithmetic, modern mathematics, and number systems etc. topics.
  2. Logical Reasoning – From this section of the exam, the questions will from Analytical Reasoning, Linear Arrangements, Number Series, Blood Relationship Tests, Family tree, arrangement, coding and series etc. topics.
  3. Language Comprehension – The Language usage and their rules, Para jumble, Syntax and correct grammar, Vocabulary, fill in the blanks, Idioms, Reading comprehension, Anonyms, and Synonyms topics.
  4. General Awareness – From this section of the exam, the questions will come from Personalities, Books and authors, History, Politics, Economics, Business, Sports, Social Developments, Entertainment, Current Affairs of National and International Economy, Personalities in News etc. topics.

Expected Cut-off of CMAT 2019 – In 2019, the marks of CMAT will be considered by more than 100+ MBA colleges. If we look back to the two years ago, then that time CMAT isn’t too much complicated, but in the present time, it becomes much complicated comparing to the previous years. However, the cut off of CMAT varies from one college to other. Some colleges give admission at 60%, while some give at 99%, but if you are looking for a decent college, the 75+ score is much required.

The registration fees of CMAT – The registration fees, of a male candidate who belongs from the general or OBC category is ₹1400. The registration fees of a Woman Belongs from general or OBC category is ₹700. The registration fees of the SC/ST/PWD candidate is ₹700. For the transgenders, the registration fee is ₹700.
