On The Way………
After the most whirlwind four months of my life, I am returning to my Kolkata. Over these four months in IIT Mumbai I don’t know what I learnt. But, I have been forced to shed off some of my shortcomings. There should be no shades of lethargy in SJMSOM. SJMSOM a dream come true it was , but it turned out to be a nightmare for the first few months. Gradually, I am coming to terms.
Sweet Dream or Nightmare??
Slogging it out for hours to get the coveted seat in a top B-School. A dream come true for many. But, within a month it turns out to be nightmare. Why is this so? Why cant we enjoy the first few months the way we enjoyed our graduation. The Rafa-Fedex debate which used to take away a large proportion of my graduation days , is completely non-existent now. Its partly because these two are not the best two now. But, majorly because I am light years away from them. For a sports fan like me to miss numerous matches seems astonishing to me. Four months just flew away without even realising it. The murky skies of Mumbai gave way to blue skies of winter. For four months it has been SJMSOM building and Hostel 1. A voracious reader (was an active member in almost all the top libraries of Kolkata) like me, entered the Central Library for the first time in November. With the exams ending, it has been a rosy couple of days for all of us. I hope we can avoid the thorns which comes with the roses in the coming months. I want to start enjoying my stay here in Mumbai, finally. I am nearing the end of my student life, its high time that I have a good finishing touch. The last lap of any race is easily the most decisive and it often decides the winner.
Last Lap………..
After my college I will be in the tough competitive corporate world. The classroom presentations will make way for boardroom ones. In college there is a sense of amateurship to whatever we do but outside we will be evaluated professionally. I am on the verge of becoming a true professional. I just hope the transition from amateur to professional turns out to be as smooth as possible. The Last Lap of amateurism needs to have a greater proportion of professionalism, so as to make my later life not a bed of thorns.
