About 13 lakh candidates took the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main in 2016, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Engineering colleges around the country take JEE Main as the eligibility criteria for engineering undergraduate courses. Below is the schedule for JEE Main and Advanced 2017.
JEE Main 2017
December 1, 2016 – registration process starts
January 2, 2017 – last date to register
March mid – admit card to be released
April 2, 2017 – (pen and paper based) Paper I, (Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology), from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and Paper II, (Bachelor in Architecture) from 2pm to 5pm.
April 8, and 9, 2017 – (computer based exam) Paper I from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and if second shift required then, 2pm to 5pm.
For foreign nationals
April 2, 2017 – (pen and paper based) Paper I, (Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology), from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and Paper II, (Bachelor in Architecture) from 2pm to 5pm.
April 9, 2017 – (computer based exam) Paper I from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
April 27, 2017 – result declaration
As per the Main results, the top 2,20,000 candidates will qualify to take JEE Advanced, the gateway to secure admissions in India’s prestigious engineering college, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

April 28, 2017 – registration process starts
May 2, 2017 – last date to register
May 10, 2017 – admit card to be released
May 21, 2017 – Paper I, 9 am to 12 pm; Paper II, 2pm to 5pm (both papers are compulsory)
May 11, 2017 – result declaration
May 19, 2017 onwards the seat allocation process starts for both Main and Advanced through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
