CBSE 2020 Sample Paper

The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE conducts the board examinations for students of classes 10 and 12 every year. In order to help them in their preparations, it also releases sample papers for every subject of examination. The sample paper helps the students understand the possible format of the question paper and also acquaints them with the probable questions that can be expected in the exam.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has released the sample question papers for ‘Basic Mathematics’ and ‘Standard Mathematics’ for the CBSE examinations coming up in the year 2020. Earlier this year, CBSE had announced a major change in the Mathematics exam to be conducted in the upcoming year for the students of class 10th.

The Mathematics paper has now been divided into two types – an easier version (Basic Mathematics) and a standard version (Standard Mathematics). Thus, class 10th students will have the option to appear for an easier version of the maths paper, especially if they do not want to pursue mathematics in their higher studies.

CBSE brought about this change in the Mathematics exam to make it more student-centric. Students will have to attend only a single Maths class, and there will not be two separate classes. This means that the course for the subject and the syllabus followed will be same for both Basic Mathematics and Standard Mathematics. The only difference will be in the difficulty level of the papers.

The students appearing for Mathematics-Standard will be allowed to appear for Mathematics-Basic or Mathematics-Standard in case they fail. However, students appearing for Mathematics-Basic will only be allowed to sit for the basic level paper in the compartment exam. The system will be especially efficient if a student appears for and passes the Mathematics-Basic paper but later changes their mind to pursuing high education in maths. In this case, they can appear for a compartment exam in Mathematics-Standard.

Before appearing for the Board exams, it is very important for students to check the sample papers. It will also give a fair idea to the students about the difficulty level of each paper. By referring to the sample paper, they will also get a better practice of the most probable questions and will, therefore, improve their chances of scoring higher marks.

The sample papers for the Basic Mathematics and Standard Mathematics exams can be downloaded from the official website of CBSE, i.e. www.cbse.nic.in. The sample papers are also available on several other websites but must be downloaded carefully and must be cross-checked to ensure their authenticity. With the help of these sample papers, students are expected to get better guidance in their preparation for the upcoming CBSE 2020 board examinations.
