Railway Recruitment Board JE exam has four stages of selection that is the first stage is the Computer Based Test (CBT), the second stage Computer Based Test (Second Stage), third stage is Document verification and fourth stage is Medical Examination. Candidates would be selected only on the basis of merit list of the written examination.

Exam Pattern
Candidates can check below the exam pattern for RRB JE CBT Stage 1 exam which will be of duration of 90 minutes:-

Candidates should note that there will be negative marking for incorrect answers and 1/3rd marks will be deducted from the marks allotted to the question for the each wrong answer. Candidates who qualify the first stage of the Computer based test will have to go through the stage 2 of the CBT examination. The board has decided that the total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the second stage will be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of posts. Candidates would be provided virtual calculator on the computer monitor during the second stage of the CBT.
The minimum passing percentage of the examination category wise is as follows:-
- For General Candidates 40%
- 30% for OBC category candidates
- 30% for SC Category Candidates
- 25% for ST category candidates

The examination for the stage 2 of the computer based will be for the duration of 120 mins and pattern for the exam is as follows:-

Candidates who qualify the second stage of the computer based test will be eligible for the last two stages of the selection process which are the document verification and the medical examination. Candidates will be notified to appear for the document verification round and they would need to bring the following documents which are specified by the officials:-
- High School Examination or the equivalent certificate
- Matric Qualification and proof for Date of Birth
- Diploma or the degree certificate
- Category Certificate for the OBC, SC and ST category candidates
- Income certificate for candidates who ask for waivers in the fees
- Medical certificate for the persons with disabilities
- No Objection Certificate from serving employees or Ex-servicemen
- Minority declaration on Non-Judicial Stamp paper
Once the document verification has been completed the candidates would be called for the medical examination to check whether they are medically fit to carry out the official duties.
