Ever since the industrialization of India, railways have been seen as a stable work environment. Back in the 1980s, people believed the good way of life is to have a wife, two kids and a job in the railways. However, that was before MNC’s made their mark in our glorious country.
Even though now, most youths choose private sector jobs over the good old Thomas the tooting tank, Railways still has a steady inflow of people willing to work for them. To join railways, however, you need to pass a certain exam set by the RRB (Railway Recruitment Board). This exam lets people apply for many jobs. One such job is for the Assistant Loco Pilots & Technicians whose result has just come out.
The revised RRB ALP result 2018 has been announced on December 20 by Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). The result contains the roll number of the candidates and their subsequent results. Around 9 lakh candidates have qualified and can appear for stage 2. This exam was recently rescheduled from 21st January to 23rd January.
To check their revised RRB ALP results, candidates have to visit the respective railway boards from where they chose to appear in the examination. Upon reaching the site, candidates have to download the pdf of the result & search for their roll number. If candidates are able to see their roll number, then they are shortlisted for appearing in stage 2 exam. The examination authority declared a cut-off score. The cut-off score remains to be category wise. The results will correspond to those category scores. Candidates who have secured equal to or more than the prescribed score has been selected for appearing in the next stage of recruitment exam.
The result has been slightly higher than that of last year. In 2017, 7.6 Lakh candidates had been selected for the second stage. This time, the number has increased by 1.4 Lakh. This is a hopeful sign for the industry. The new improvements in the work culture of railways has helped this cause.
RRB ALP recruitment was conducted in online mode from August 9 to September 4 to fill the posts of Assistant Loco Pilots and Technicians. The number of jobs available is said to be around a ballpark number of 64,000. These vacancies will be filled when candidates pass an exam. This exam is scheduled to be conducted in multiple stages and through various mediums.
The answer key was released (for stage 1) on September 13th. This ensured that candidates are given full transparency into understanding the result and find out where they went wrong. The last date for submitting any objections regarding the answer key was September 25th, 2018. Now that the results have been announced, only a complete re-evaluation can help the candidates in case they need one.
The hall ticket for the stage 2 test will be released 4 days prior the day of the test. This is to ensure the integrity of the test is not compromised.
Once you get the job, things that you can look forward to being:
- Pay Scale is Rs. 19,900/- (It is as per the Level 2 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix). Also, an allowances as admissible.
- Apart from the basic pay, you will also get benefits and work-related perks.
- Dearness Allowance on Total Pay.
- Running allowance (depending on the distance travelled).
- Transport Allowance.
- House Rent Allowance (in case no quarters are provided).
- As per the new pension scheme 10% from the salary will be deducted.
