Preparing for MBA entrances is a tedious task that lasts for an year or more for most of the lot and even there are those who are through it with a few months of preparation. In any case there are times when one doesn’t feel up to the mark, finds oneself on shaky grounds and fear creeps in. Well I went through that quite a few times and that’s when I found solace in rock music. I have been a rock fan since ages now and it has always helped me to be back with a bang(literally!) whenever I was down. Those who have had a taste of rock will understand what this bang refers to and hell yeah, that means Head bang.
Done with my CAT and a few other exams, I got some time to think over the things which I continued doing all the way through my preparation. Taking controlled doses of some heavy listening was one.For many, rock music is just a bunch of fed up people taking their anger out on some musical instruments and making insufferable noises for others and blaming the society through minimal lyrics for all the turbulence in their social lives. And then there are those who find motivation in it,a drive to work harder and sometimes even find peace through those six strings. I am of course of the latter breed.
With the right pick of songs one can fall in love with rock music and believe me there’s a song for every phase of life. To start with there are numerous genres and sub genres in rock and even if you narrow down a genre to begin with you will soon be facing a choice to pick a band to kick start your journey. I did some asking around when I started with it. Many a hours spent on radio listening to a variety of songs and then googling about the bands and related stuff presented me with a quite big collection of music. Though I am not an expert at it but I think I can suggest a few songs for those who are ready to rock their way through CAT.
Here’s a list of 5 songs I think can be given a shot:
1) Drive by Incubus
2)Nothing else matters by Metallica
3)Stairway to heaven by Led Zeppelin
4)Smoke on the water by Deep Purple
5)With arms wide open by Creed
They are not rough on ears and are for an easy listening. If even a few people like it,I will be back with a lot more.Enjoy and I hope everyone rock their way through all the exams ?
