On 10th February 2023, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu inaugurated the “Reimagining Marketing with Technology” International Conference in a hybrid format at its transit Canal Road campus in Jammu. The event was co-organized with Deakin University and was graced by the presence of several academic leaders, including Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics of IIM Jammu, and Prof. Amanda Pyman, Dean of Deakin Business School.
The conference was officially opened with a lamp-lighting ceremony followed by welcome addresses from the Conference Chairs, Dr. Nitin Upadhyay and Dr. Andre Bonfrer. The event also marked the launch of the ICRMT 2023 Conference Proceedings & Digital Flip Book.
The conference brought together leading experts, practitioners, and academics in the marketing and technology sectors, with a lineup of individuals from various backgrounds, including brand agencies, digital agencies, technology companies, and marketers. The theme of the conference was to explore how technology can transform the marketing landscape.
In his address, Prof. B.S. Sahay welcomed everyone to the conference and provided a brief overview of IIM Jammu. He emphasised the importance of networking and knowledge generation through conferences and spoke about the role of marketing and technology in shaping the world in the coming times. He also highlighted the unique aspect of Jammu being home to three Institutes of National Importance, IIT, IIM, and AIIMS.
Prof. Amanda Pyman shared an overview of Deakin University and its history, as well as the evolution of technology over the years. The conference featured two keynote addresses, the first by Prof. Kapil R Tuli on the topic “Social Commerce: Moving Beyond Advertising” and the second by Andy Lark on “Martech Mahem & Web 3.0.”
The conference also featured Q&A sessions and ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. Baljeet Singh, Conference Chair of ICRMT. Overall, the inaugural session concluded on a positive note, providing valuable insights and perspectives on the future of marketing and technology.
