Candidates should also note that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) made two changes in the JEE pattern for 2017.
– There shall be no weightage for the class 12 marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination
– For the candidates to qualify for the admission process on the basis of JEE (Main or Advanced) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in class 12 examination, or be in the top 20 percentiles in class 12 examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe) students, the qualifying marks will be 65% in class 12 examination.
Candidates from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, and Odisha are advised to fill JEE Main 2017 form in addition to the state level examination. However, their admission criteria will be notified by the concerned authorities.
JEE Main will be conducted in both offline and online mode in April 2017. It will also be an eligibility test for JEE Advanced 2017, the gateway for admission to the undergraduate programmes at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
