RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) is a Government Organization which was set up in the year 1988. It manages the recruitment of new candidates to work in the Indian Railways. There are a total of 21 Boards located in India. The jobs in India railways are available for the candidates who have a minimum educational qualification of 10th standard or equivalent. Each year the RRB provides various jobs for the freshers who are willing to work in the prestigious Government jobs. It provides various jobs like Junior Engineer, Group D posts; ALP & Technician posts etc. lakhs of candidates apply for jobs in RRB each and appear for the exams conducted by the Board. The selected candidates will be allotted their respective jobs. The competition for RRB increase year by year as it is a secured job.
For 2018, the RRB announced nearly 1.5 lakh vacancies for various Group C and D posts. And more than 2.5 crore candidates applied for the jobs and joined the recruitment process. The whole recruitment process for the previous year will be over by the month of August 2019.
Recently the Indian Railway Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal made an announcement regarding the increase of the vacancies for the year 2019. The Minister has kick-started 2019 by announcing a golden opportunity for the job seekers in the Government sector. The big announcement regarding the hike in vacancies in the railway sector is being made when there are only a few months left for the 2019 Elections.
The Minister announced that about 2.50 lakh vacancies will be available for jobs in RRB across the country by 2021. He also added that new job opportunities have been created for the freshers and the interested candidates who are willing to work for Indian railways where the process for 1.50 lakh vacancies for 2019 is in progress. This will lead to a total of nearly 4 lakh jobs that will be made available for the candidates within 2021. This would really be great news for the candidates who wish to work in Government jobs. And also this will be the biggest employment news providing that the Railways will always be the biggest recruiter for this year across the country. He also added that 10 percent quota will be allotted for the Economically Weaker Sections.
Details regarding the 2.50 lakh vacancies:
The first phase of the recruitment for 1.31 lakh vacancies will be initiated in the months of February- March 2019. As per the reservation policy of the Government, nearly 19,715, 9,857 and 35, 485 vacancies will be reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes respectively. And 10% vacancies which will sum up to 13,100 will be allotted for economically weak sections.
The next RRB recruitment notification will be announced in the month of May. In this phase, around 99,000 personnel arising out of the retirements. The above phases will get over within August 2021. According to the reservation policy, nearly 15,000, 7,500, 27,000 and 10,000 posts will be reserved for SC, ST, OBC, and Economically Weaker Sections.
It is also said that the Railways have sanctioned strength of 15.06 lakh employees out of which 12.23 lakh personnel were on the rolls and the remaining 2.82 lakh posts were vacant.
The minister also announced for the extension of 22 Train services in India. This decision was made after the success of the services of the Gatimaan Express which was extended up to Jhansi, he added. The extension of the train services will help in the utilization of the railways & its infrastructure and also to help in serving the public and the for the country’s development.
