Introduction:
LIBA (Loyola Institute of Business Administration) is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is a private business school. The institute was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1979. It is situated at the Loyola College campus run by the Loyola college society.
When the institute was established it had a three-year, part-time PGDBM program catering to the needs of business executives in and around Chennai. The program was approved by All India Council for Technical Education. Since 1995, the institute has offered a Two-year, full-time PGDM program and recognized as an equivalent to an MBA degree by the Association of Indian Universities.
Courses offered:
The courses offered by the institute are Two-year PGDM program, Three-Year, part-time PGDM program, PhD program, One-Year Executive PG diploma program, certificate programs, Blended learning, and Executive MBA.
The candidates applying for any programme in the institute will have to appear for the CAT or XAT exams before applying. The expected cut-off for both the exams is 80 percentile.
Full-time PGDM programme:
It’s a two-year programme consisting of six terms of approximately three months each. The first year of the programme presents the students with a complete view of management and the broad potential of the corporate world. All the core courses are mandatory to be taken that is offered in the first year.
The courses offered in the second year symbolize the student’s cutting edge of new techniques and innovations in various fields and help them apply theoretical inputs in practice.
In each term, the students have to choose six subjects from one or more of the following areas of specialization: Finance, Marketing, HRM, Operations Management, and Business Analytics.
Part-time PGDM programme:
It is a three-year weekend program, comprises of 9 terms of approximately three months each. The classes will be held from Saturdays from 5.30 pm to 9 pm, and Sundays from 10 am to 1.45 pm. The programme consists of 28 core courses and 6 electives.
The first year course would present the students with a broad view of the management discipline. The courses in the first and second year are core courses and the third year course would bring into the account of the classroom, the study of the latest developments in the chosen area.
Eligibility:
- The student applying should be a graduate from a recognized university or hold a professional qualification equivalent to the bachelor’s degree and should have secured 50% aggregate marks.
- The student applying should have full-time work experience in business/industry/government for a minimum of 2 years.
- The applying candidate should be employed at the time of applying the programme.
Selection of candidates:
The candidates for PGDM courses will be selected on the basis of CAT/XAT scores. Short-listed candidates will be called for group discussion and an interview and for the final selection.

- Any engineering graduate/graduate of science/commerce/arts like economics with maths from any recognized university with 60% aggregate marks.

- Aptitude towards data mining, maths, and statistics.
