A total of 83,662 candidates have registered for the September 2013 Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) of which 54,882 candidates are males while 28,780 are females. A total of 60,110 candidates fall in the general category. Corresponding registration figures for September 2012 CMAT were far lower with only 60,000 registrations. The registrations came to a close yesterday after the original date was postponed by five days by the All India Council of technical Education (AICTE).
This CMAT is also being taken abroad for the first time with newer venues such as Dubai, Kabul, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu and Lagos. The numbers though haven’t been encouraging with only 35 registrations from Dubai. Other cities are even lesser. While AICTE Chairman Dr SS Mantha had earlier told PaGaLGuY that a new component on emotional intelligence would be introduced in the exam, the modalities are yet to be finalised. This was confirmed by Dr Mantha.
CMAT will be conducted from September 26-30, 2013 and the results will be declared on October 20, 2013.
