According to a Government Resolution passed by the Higher and Technical Education Department, the eligibility for admission to post-graduate degree courses has been modified for the academic year 2017-18. The resolution states that ME/MTech aspirants to Maharashtra colleges will have to apply for admission through GATE 2017 scores only. (Image below)
Until this year, MHT-CET scores were allowed for admissions to post-graduate courses in Maharashtra. However, an official from DTE (Directorate of Technical Education) confirmed that even government colleges in Maharashtra will now grant admission only through GATE scores. This change has been made to regularise post-graduate admissions in the state, as earlier, colleges were divided over eligibility for MTech/ME courses through GATE and MHTCET. Moreover, the new system will bring ease in the centralised counselling process for post-graduate courses from the coming year.
