National Institute of Technology, Silchar is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology of India and was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College in Assam. In 2002 it was upgraded to the status of National Institute of Technology and was declared an Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. The institute is approved by The University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

Essential Qualification
Deputy Registrar
- Master’s degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks or its equivalent Grade in the CGPA / UGC point scale.
Deputy Librarian
- Master’s Degree in Library Science/ Information Science/Documentation with CGPA of 6.5 in 10 points scale or at least 60% of the marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’.
- Qualifying in the national level test such as NET / SLET / SET
Senior Medical Officer
MBBS Degree or equivalent qualification included in any one of the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and must be registered in a State Medical Register or Indian Medical Register.

Post Graduate Qualification, preferably MD, in General Medicine, or equivalent qualification.
