The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has notified about the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Under-Graduate 2017 through their website cbseneet.nic.in. Medical aspirants interested in MBBS/BDS courses across the country will have to take NEET UG 2017, as this will be the only medical entrance examination this year.
Classification of Seats
Over 50,000 MBBS/BDS seats are offered by different medical/dental colleges across the country, sanctioned by Medical Council of India (MCI). The classification of seats are done accordingly:
· All India Quota Seats
· State Government Quota Seats
· State / Management / NRI Quota Seats in private medical / dental colleges or any private / deemed university
· Central Pool Quota Seats
Pattern of the test
The NEET UG examination will contain 180 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from class 12 level. The questions will be multiple choice, each of which will contain four options. The total time allotted to students to solve the questions is 3 hours. The examination will take place in 8 regional languages apart from Hindi and English namely: Gujarati, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Telegu, Tamil, Kannada.
· Physics: 45 Questions
· Chemistry: 45 Questions
· Biology: 90 Questions
Age criteria and NEET attempts cap
· Candidates need to be of minimum age of 17 and maximum age of 25 to take the examination. There will be reservation of 5 years for reserved candidates.
· Candidates having already taken the examination (AIPMT/NEET) thrice will not be eligible to apply for the examination.
Educational Eligibility
Candidates having passed the higher secondary examination with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (taken together), can apply for the examination.
How to Apply
Candidates need to apply online through the official website www.cbseneet.nic.in. They need to pay the examination fees of Rs. 1,400/- (for General/OBC candidates) and Rs. 750/- (for SC/ST candidates) to complete their application. It should be noted that students are required to have an Aadhaar card to apply for NEET UG 2017.
