Medicos giving NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) PG 2017 are worried about their status of the affidavits that they have submitted to NBE (National Board of Examination) to complete their application procedure. Candidates who have completed their MBBS degree from Andhra Pradesh/Telangana/Jammu & Kashmir and are domicile of other states, were asked by NBE to provide their domicile proof thorough an affidavit. NBE had previously clarified that the affidavits are must for such students, in order to become eligible for the All India 50% quota seats in MD (Doctor of Medicine)/MS (Master of Surgery)/PG Diploma courses offered by medical institutes across the country.
Candidates who have submitted the affidavit have not received any confirmation from the website, till now. Talking to PaGaLGuY one such applicant Harsha Mandadi said, “Since the last date of application is approaching (extended to November 7), I want to make sure that the affidavit that we had to send by post, has reached the NBE office on time. When we tried calling the helpline number on the website, they didn’t have much information about it.” Harsha is a MBBS graduate from Bangalore, who has completed his internship on April 2016 and is writing NEET PG 2017.
Responding to one of the tweets made by Harsha regarding the matter on October 5, the executive director of NBE Dr. Bipin Batra had ensured that the list of affidavits will be made public through the website. However, he didn’t mention any specific date on which the candidates will be able to check whether their affidavits have been received by the authority. “Once we get a clarification from the website, we can become ensured and concentrate on our examination preparation,” said worried Harsha.
In case the affidavits have not reached the NBE office, the candidates will need to re-send them within the last date decided by the authorities. There is no clarity on whether NBE will extend the date of receiving the affidavits as well.
Keeping in mind the late finish of MBBS internships this year, under the NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) in Andhra Pradesh, the NBE on October 20 had announced to extend the internship deadline to April 15, 2017. The examination notification of NBE had earlier mentioned that the candidates had to finish their mandatory 1-year internship post MBBS till March 31, 2017, in order to be eligible for NEET PG 2017.
