A NEET aspirant hailing from Bihar named Aman Kumar Gupta (16) jumped off into the Chambal river in Kota City on Thursday afternoon. His dead body was recovered from Chambal river by the police on Thursday night. The deceased was a student of class 11th and had arrived to Kota a few months ago for NEET coaching from Allen Career Institute of Kota. Ramnath Singh, Circle Inspector, RK Puram Police Station, Kota City said that the victim talked to his friend on his mobile phone on Thursday prior to leaving for committing suicide. “Aman had asked his friend to inform his parents about his extreme step,” said Singh. Aman was living in rented accommodations in Mahaveer Nagar area of Kota.
Prior committing suicide, the victim recorded an around 11-minute-long video clip in which he held himself responsible for his suicide and apologised to his parents and family for his extreme step. “I tried my best to move forward in life but was not able to do so,” he said in the clip. He also called upon his younger brother to now fulfill his parents aspirations. Blaming himself, Aman said, in video clip, that his father extended his support to him always but he in turn prove to be a shame for father in the class 10 when his complaint was even made to the Principal. A homesick appearing Aman called upon his parents to pursue education of his younger brother but asked them to not keep him away from them.
Ramnath Singh said that Aman appeared to have committed suicide following study-related stress. Aman’s suicide has taken the toll of student suicides to 14 in Kota till this year.
