The
JEE 2015 Seat Allocation process for the NITs (National Institute of
Technology) is finally over and the NITs are scheduled to begin their academic
year in the month of August. So, let us now take a look at the cutoffs/closing
ranks in 2015 for the different NITs. This series of articles will help you
understand the cutoffs/closing ranks for selection to each of the various
branches in the different NITs in 2015. This will also give you some idea about
the expected cutoffs/closing ranks for admission to the different NITs in 2016.

Candidates
were finally selected to the NITs on the basis of their performance in the JEE
Main 2015 and their performance in the Class XII exam. This was also the first
time that the NITs were a part of the Joint Seat Allocation Process that
involved other reputed institutions like the IITs, ISM Dhanbad, IIITs and other
GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes).

The
foundation stone of NIT Meghalaya at Cherrapunjee (Sohra) was laid by Union
Minister for IT and Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal in October 2012.
The classes of NIT Meghalaya
were started in 2010 at the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of
Technology, Surat. The institute presently functions from its temporary campus
at the Bijni Complex located in Shillong. The Institute has been allotted a
plot of land of about 300 acres in Sohra, Cherrapunjee in the East Khasi Hills
district of Meghalaya for its permanent campus.

At
the undergraduate level (B. E. / B. Tech.), this institute offers 90 seats in 4
different branches. Selections
to these seats are done on the basis of a student’s All India Rank in the JEE
Main 2015. The list given below mentions the opening and closing ranks of
students across different categories that were selected to the various courses
at this NIT in 2015.
