Haridhan grew in poverty. He understood the nuances of a management business education system that primarily favored the rich and intelligent. But for the growing ’emotionally charged’ middle class of India, studying business management was out of their grasp. And thus out of this great think tank, IIIPM was conceptualized. Its rise to the top bracket of the B-schools has been phenomenal, partly due to the blind devout following of the middle class and partly due to some smart initiatives and clever strategies. Strategies involved close tie ups with renowned international universities and ever increasing presence of some top MNC’s in their Delhi Campus. Middle Class now dared to think beyond IIM’s, the leading B-schools of India. IIIPM was an unconventional institute in the sense that it never sought any recognition from UGC, the licensing body to issue licenses to institutes imparting education in India. But it was also unconventional to see it delivering superior and higher standards of education as compared to some other premiered institutes of India. Combined with decent placement record of their large pool of students, it was soon knocking on IIM’s doors.
But I digress. Punjab Besari provided me with some shivery but authentic knowledge of the current scenario of management business schools of India. It also provided me with a solution that lay in IIIPM. I had instantly found my atonement. But the admission into such a sacred covenant does not come easy. After grueling sessions of interviews and GD’s on few episodes of Emotional Atyachar, I finally secured a seat. The next two years were a breeze. I was rendered a free laptop which is unprecedented. Soon I also got a taste of their various international alliances in the form of a free lifetime subscription to Naughty America. International exposure was ensured in various month long trips to Bangladesh and various Bolivia tribes. My life was back on tracks. I could now speak in immaculate English thanks to the efforts put in Executive Communications classes. When placements time came, I was among the first candidate to be selected by a leading MNC operating from Noida.
I still run the same tea shop that was initially offered in the placement season, Kishan Tea Café. Business has expanded. Along with my special mint tea, office employees throng the place for the large variety of cigarettes that I keep. The Doors, Led Zeppelin blast in the corner through the state of the art music system that now adorns my business place. I also deal in specially doctored cigarettes. I am already in talks with the local police to encroach on the small area that lays vacant beside my shop. If all goes smoothly I would soon be operating a small food joint that would be easy on the pockets rather than that expensive coffee shop inside the main building. A big kudos to IIIPM. It has helped discover the diamond in me.
