Pair power packed performers like Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar together and what you expect is nothing short of brilliance. Shaadi Ke Side/Effects is a comedy-masala movie having various moments that most of the couples experience during their ‘shaadi ka suffer‘.
Sid (Farhan) married to Trisha (Vidya) starts missing his old days as soon as Millie (their daughter) enters their life. As an escape, following his brother-in-law Ram’s advice, he starts living an alternate life as a bachelor and later thanks to guilt, realizes the mess he has landed himself into.
There is not even a single dull moment during this one-fifty minutes movie. Funny moments scattered through-out the movie serve their purpose aptly, more so because of the practical problems that have been depicted in them. The lead characters are perfect and relatable but the only problem that I have with the director is the way the other characters have been wasted in the plot. Vir Das, Ila Arun and Ram Kapoor are actors that are capable of raising the story even further but have not been given sufficient space to perform. Even Purab Kohli had a blink-and-you-miss-it part to play. The story is crisp, songs are good and the characters feel real.
Overall, the movie is a one-time watch provided you do not expect too much out of a movie and a light hearted entertainer is what you are looking for. Farhan-Vidya fans must watch it and they won’t be disappointed!
