Driven by this motto, the Placement Cell at K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) brought about a paradigm shift in the results of the campus placement program for the class of 2006 by reaching new heights not only in terms of avg. salary offered but also in attracting companies of repute across most sectors of industry. The avg. salary for a batch of 250 students shot up from Rs. 3.89 lac/annum to Rs. 5.45 lac/annum signifying the quantum jump of SIMSR into the league of premier B-schools of India . The year 2006 also saw one International Placement offer from Kotak Securities, continuing the trend set in the year 2005.
Companies of repute such as Accenture, HP, J P Morgan Chase, Asian Paints, DSP Merrill Lynch which visit only top B-schools of the country participated in SIMSR’s Campus Placement program this year and acknowledged the talent, each one recruiting 2 or more students from the campus. The highest salary of 8.2 lac/annum was offered by Patni Computer Systems for the profile of Business Analyst (5 offers), while the next best of 7.25 lac/annum was offered by Accenture (7 offers) for the role of Domain Specialist and Business Analyst. Infosys, which visited the campus for the first time, showcased immense faith in the quality of students by making 13 offers and emerging as the largest recruiter this year. In all, 78 companies participated in the campus placement program with an average of 4 offers per company.
