Amidst all the chaos and confusion about conducting one engineering entrance exam across the country, the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) will be held as planned. MHT-CET is the entrance to the state’s engineering colleges, and approximately 4.09 lakh candidates registered for the exam in 2016. MHT-CET 2017 will be conducted on May 11.
Registrations for MHT-CET 2017 will begin from mid-March. Students who wish to take the exam can get the application form from their respective schools, and junior colleges. “We are yet to receive a schedule for MHT-CET, but the exam date is confirmed. The registration process is most likely to start in mid-March,” said a DTE (Directorate of Technical Education) official on the condition of anonymity.
The official continued, “Students are busy preparing for class 12 board exam, and that is why we will start the registration process in March.” Class 12 state board examinations are expected to get over by fourth week of March 2017.
More than 1,700 colleges give admission based on State CET score. Students whose domicile is outside Maharashtra can apply to the state engineering college under 15% All India Quota Seats through the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE- Main) 2017 score.
