Around four lakh medical and engineering aspirants across Maharashtra have appeared for MHT-CET today. The Common Entrance State is being conducted across 36 districts of the state by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research.
The first slot of the pen-and-paper mode of the exam started at 10 and got over at 11.30 a.m. It had Physics and Chemistry paper in the objective format; there were 50 questions in each subject and one mark for correct answer with no negative marking. The total score of this section is 100 marks. The second slot will have Mathematics section which has another 50 questions and two marks for each question. There were four sets of question papers in the first slot – 11, 22, 33, and 44. PaGaLGuY spoke to a couple of aspirants about the exam and the level of difficulty; the students had mixed reactions.
Sai Deshmukh, whose took the exam at Vasant Vihar High School and Junior College, Thane, said, “My paper went very well. I completed the entire set. Though Physics was difficult, I managed to solve it.”
Sahil Nair and Pranav Pawar from another test centre in Parel, Mumbai, agreed with Deshmukh. They said that Physics paper was difficult and tricky. “But Chemistry was easy, and we finished that section first,” they added.
However, not all aspirants were confident about their exam and some seemed completely clueless. Aditya Pendse said, “I just gave my everything in the last half hour, and now it is all up to the God.”
Anagha Kulkarni whose exam was not quite up to her expectation is really worried. She said, “Chemistry paper was confusing because of which I could not focus on the Physics paper.” She is unsure of her preparations and kept on blaming herself for her poor performance. “I am worried about Mathematics now, I hope I fare well in it.”
The next slot of the examination will start at 3 pm today.
