MHRD to conduct IIT-JEE entrance test in SAARC nations, excluding Pakistan

MHRD

MHRD will conduct Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) in SAARC
nations, for admissions to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology
(IITs). However, JEE will not be conducted in Pakistan despite being a member
of the SAARC fraternity. The decision was taken by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD) in consultation with the External Affairs Ministry of India.

The conclusion to not conduct JEE in Pakistan in 2017, comes
after considering various
factors, especially difficulties involved with regard to students procuring
visas.

Apart from SAARC nations, JEE will also be conducted in
Singapore, UAE and may be in South Africa. The number of seats to be allotted in
2017, for foreign nationals will be supernumerary. The fee applicable in the case of foreign students will
also be more as the subsidised fee which Indians pay would not be applicable to
them.

Foreign
students will be selected through a common entrance exam which would be
administered by the IIT with the help of Indian missions in these countries.
It will be a pen and paper based entrance exam with same marking structure
