Meeting of Waters

Today, while I am leafing through the pages of book “Journey of the Pink Dolphins”, I read an amazing fact about the amazon river…I want 2 share a glimpse of it with u…

It is one natural wonders of the Brazil.

The two tributaries of the River Amazon, river Rio Solimoes is the light sandy color and river Rio Negro as it name suggest it is in the color of the black, meet near at Manus(a city in a Brazil) but they don’t mix, they flow separately side by side up to 4 miles as like lovers walking slowly without touching each other….dancing together…

The sheer stubbornness of the Rios Solimoes and Negro. Not only do the two rivers bounce off each other when initially introduced, they keep up their mutual cold-shoulder routine for 4 whole miles. There is, of course, a perfectly good scientific reason for this. The Negro is colder, heavier and slower-moving than its neighbor – and it takes this surprising distance for the swirling currents to merge the flows fully.Because of differences in the densities they meet but don’t mix. They travel travel 4 miles like after that they merged together flows until reach the Atlantic.

The most interesting species found here are the “Pink Dolphins”, they come here to hunt at the meeting of water due to sudden collision of water, the fish confused and become easy prey for the pink dolphins, the local people call them as “BOTOS”.

The Amazon is a born of such a union, what a wonder and an amazing species pink dolphins…Nature is an interesting one beyond the expectations……….god might be crazy………
