The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the class 12 cut-offs for eligibility for IITs and ISM. As per the data released, the cut-off for most of the state boards in 2016 is lower than that in 2015. Out of the 35 boards listed in the data, only 11 of them have a higher cut-off this year.
The cut-off or eligibility is based on the top 20 percentile marks in a particular board or 75% marks in the board examination out of an aggregate of 500 marks.
As compared to last year, 50,000 additional students qualified to take the JEE Advanced. As the MHRD raised the intake of students applying for Advanced, the eligibility cut-off had to be reduced to accommodate students.
