The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) declared the results for Eamcet-III for admissions into MBBS and BDS seats in Telangana on Thursday in which the pass percentage stood at 99.07 per cent.
Out of 37,178 candidates who appeared for the exam, 36,834 have been qualified for the web counselling of which 24,612 are girls and 12,222 are boys. There are total 70 candidates who failed to qualify for the exam and 259 students whose details were not available with the JNTUH.
Girls outperformed boys as out of top 10 rankers, six were girls with Regalla Prapulla Manasa from Andhra Pradesh securing the top rank, P Sri Harika securing the second rank and Thappeta Tejaswini securing the third rank respectively. “I plan to pursue career in cardiology by seeking admission in Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad,” said Regalla Prapulla Manasa.
After the Eamcet-II paper leak fiasco, students found question paper for Eamcet-III to be comparatively tougher. Although special efforts were taken to make the question paper different from the first two phases, the university received over 700 objections on 20 odd questions. “An expert committee was set-up by the university to look into the objections. The committee found that there were seven questions which had no correct answer and one question was out of syllabus. Therefore, based on the suggestions given by the committee, we have awarded eight marks to all those who attempted those eight questions,” said Venugopal Reddy, vice-chancellor of JNTUH while addressing the press.
The committee also found that there were four questions which had multiple answers and one question which had three options. However, the university decided to award marks only to those candidates who selected right options.
This year, majority students who qualified for the exam belonged to Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE). Out of 36,834 qualified candidates, 36,232 were from TSBIE, 497 from CBSE, 29 from intermediate vocational, 17 from TSOSS/APOSS, 22 from ISC, nine from NIOS, three from RGUKT and 25 from others.
The OMR answer sheets will be displayed on the official website of Eamcet www.tseamcet.in from September 15 to September 17 5 pm. “Candidates who wish to submit a representation about any discrepancy in the evaluation of the OMR sheet can do so by paying Rs 5,000 (Rs 2,000 in cases of SC/ST candidates) on website www.tseamcet.in latest by September 17 5 pm,” reads the press release issued by the JNTUH. Classes for the MBBS and BDS courses are expected to begin from October 1.
