The first round of the second phase of JEE Mains 2016 got over at 12.30 pm today. Around 2 lakh students opted for this year’s online mode of examination. One of the toughest exams, JEE Main, does tests not only a student’s knowledge but also their parents’ patience.
Parents braved the sweltering heat to stay put at the exam centres, waiting for their children as they attempted the JEE Main exam inside. They were relieved to know that the exams went on well.
Parents gave thumbs up to the online mode. “I supported my child when he expressed his desire to take the online mode of the examination. Being an engineer, I am aware of the merits of this method when compared to the offline exam. I am happy to know that his exam went off well,” said Amit Pandey, who had accompanied his child at the centre today.
Anam Sheikh, a homemaker, who had come along with her son, from the slums of Vidyavihar, Mumbai, said, “We come from a modest background. I supported him in his decision to opt for the online mode. We also sourced a second-hand computer for him so that he would practice at home. It comes as a great relief to know that he attempted the paper confidently and may make it this time around.”
Some parents were apprehensive initially. “I was tensed when my child decided to take the online mode of exam. He practised a lot in the last few months. In the end, I think it was a good idea. I am relieved till the results are out,” said Armaan Shah, another parent at the exam centre in Mumbai.
CBSE conducted the online mode of JEE Main 2016 with technical support from TCS iON. Students over the centres have not received any major technical glitch while attempting the exam, though minor issues were reported at some centres, but were resolved within no time. TCS iON will also generate a personalised analytical report in the coming days.
