The first round of the online mode of JEE Mains 2016 exam was held on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

While aspirants sat inside the examination centres writing the test, their anxious parents waited outside in hordes. However, unlike the pen-and-paper mode of exam, the online exam had a few takers. The centres were not as crowded as they were on April 3, 2016, for the offline mode of JEE Mains. There were a handful of teachers and professors on invigilation duty at the centres.

The first round of JEE Mains online received mixed responses from the students. A majority of them found the paper easier than the offline mode. Those who opted for the online JEE Mains appeared satisfied with their experience. “I had taken a lot of mock tests during the last few weeks. It stood me in good stead and helped me solve today’s online paper. I found Physics to be a little difficult, though. I could manage my time well due to the flexibility offered by the online mode,” said Anish Sahu, an aspirant who appeared in the exam today.

Another student Ambareesh Balaji agreed with Sahu, and added, “I am satisfied with my attempt. I found it easier than last year’s online paper and this year’s offline exam.”

There were others who were glad that they chose this mode. “I knew it will go well and it went. I am happy that I opted for the online mode. Compared to the offline mode, the paper was easier,” said Shubham Tripathi.

The exam was not glitch-free and there were technical issues at some centres. Harshita Kotaweteker, a student at one such centre in Mumbai, said, “A student in my class faced technical errors in his computer. I was nervous that my computer could hang as well but I am glad that it didn’t and I managed to complete my exam on time, without any glitch.”
