As per a notification released on the official portal of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), an aadhar card is mandatory to register for the exam. However, not all candidates have registered for the card. Students from Assam cannot even register, as the application process for aadhar card has not even started in the state. There was some unrest in the student community, as those who do not have the card, cannot fill the form for JEE 2017. As reported earlier by PaGaLGuY, even if students register for an aadhar today, there is no guarantee that their card will be made before the registration process for JEE 2017 ends, which is January 3.
On November 22, 2016, JEE authorities met with the officials of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to come up with a solution for students who do not have the aadhar card, and wish to take the entrance exam.
The meeting led to a conclusion where UIDAI asked the JEE unit to share a list of exam cities, and they will soon put up facilitation centres in those cities. Students can visit those facilitation centres to register for aadhar card, after which they can fill the form for JEE Mains 2017.
UIDAI will put aadhar card facilitation centres all over the country, as it is not only candidates from Assam who do not possess aadhar cards; there are students from other states as well who do not have the card.
In a day or two, JEE unit will release the details of facilitation centres for aadhar card on the official JEE portal.
