This year the batch of 2008 carried forward the Strategym tradition of presenting well researched perspectives on important contemporary issues. Research papers tackled issues like developing Indian debt markets, Private players in Indian airport development, Carbon Credits, Grading of NGOs, Online gaming and Social Sensitivity Index.
Strategym 2007 kicked off with its eliminations which were held in August. Six papers were selected to be presented at Strategym 2007. Prof. Sydney Prabhu who judged the event applauded the efforts of all the students.
Strategym 2007 finals were held at the Taj President on 23 October, 2007. Mr. Ajay Piramal, MD, Piramal Group and an illustrious alumnus of JBIMS inaugurated the event and on the occasion shared his learnings from life with the entire student fraternity present.
After a great start to Strategym the teams presented their research and ideas to an enthralled audience and the expert panelists. The panelists included the likes Mr Alok Kejriwal, Founder of Contest2win, Mr Piyush Wadhwa, VP-Debts, ICICI Securities, Mrs Khorakiwala of WHARF and other such distinguished personalities.

Indian Airports-Private Players take wings
This paper presented a model which would help private airport developers gauge the feasibility and commercial viability of an airport development project.
Online Gaming – The next big thing in India
With the increasing spending power of the Indians due to the booming economy, the online gaming industry is predicted to flourish in India. This paper tries to find the requirement of the Indian gamer and design a robust business model for the Indian market.
Developing India’s debt markets
The Indian debt market stands at 2% of the total investment portfolio as compared to 33% in developed economies. Keeping this issue in mind, the paper outlines a roadmap to develop India’s debt markets including a robust model for pricing corporate debt securities.
Carbon Credits – Making money out of thin air
India is posed to emerge as the largest player in carbon credits market by 2010. With this view, the research entails origination services in the global carbon credit market by identifying projects likely to generate carbon emission to offering facilities to local sellers on behalf of buyers in overseas markets.
Social Sensitivity Index
Realizing the need to analyze the changes the organization brings about in the society not only by its CSR initiatives but also by its sheer presence in the society, the paper suggests a tool for measuring the same in the form of Social Sensitivity Index (SSI).
Grading of NGOs
The project envisages identification of parameters and development of a dynamic model for grading of NGOs, thereby aiding corporates and funding agencies in shortlitsing NGOs for donations.
Each of these presentations was followed by panel discussions. The panelists gave their expert views on the papers and at the same time congratulated the teams on a great job done.
Finally the moment of truth arrived. The team presenting on Carbon Credits was second while the team which presented on Social Sensitivity Index won the top honours at Strategym.
