For so long, i have seen articles and pieces on women’s health, their looks, figure blah blah blah. So much so that i guess people have started to think that guys have it easy. Trust me, we don’t. So it is high time, that people started to look how difficult it is for guys like me(all my brothers who are not like Damon Salvatore/Hrithik Roshan/John Abraham/Sushant Rajput/Ashton Kutcher) to survive in the real world.
People always see the hourglass figure of actresses & say girls have it hard. What about Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham and every 2nd actor who comes on the screen, rips off his shirt/t-shirt/kurta and shows off that muscled and sculpted body. Inadvertently a guy will start to compare his physique with that of them and if he proudly doesn’t (guys like me, eh!) thinking that he is content with how he looks, the society(girlfriend, girls who are friends, gym-hitting guy friends, well-wishers, dating advisers) will cajole him into thinking so. And it does get hard when all you can hear about is ‘How sexy is Damon Salvatore!’ or ‘Did you look at Hrithik’s physique for the new movie’ or ‘Do you know that guy/friend’s bf/some random guy spends so many hours in the gym‘, huh? i mean, if i want to have a tummy, what problem does a society have with it? Indian men generally have a bear-belly/pot-belly and yes, i am completely happy with it, and no, i don’t want to hit the gym to convert my family pack into a 4/6/8 pack.
The tale of our sorrows does not end here. The list is really long, trust me. Hardly when we are able to cope up with the burden of not having a striking physique, when new demons come to haunt us. For instance, ‘OMG! Sushant Rajput is such a great dancer’ or ‘Ashton Kutcher is such a great guy’ or ‘some random guy/celebrity is such a great singer/guitarist‘ blah blah blah. I mean, acting, singing, dancing is not everything. Just ask them, can they spend days after days hooked on a television show until they have completed all the aired seasons, or play continuously for 16/18/20 hours to complete Battlefield 3/CoD Black Ops/Far Cry 3 or finish a really thick novel in one go ? Do they even know how tough and demanding that actually is? Huh.
We guys really have it hard, yes we do, don’t think otherwise. Competing with those story-book lover boys, televised heroes, sexy and hot looks, perfect physiques, the list is endless. Just because we don’t speak aloud all our problems doesn’t mean that we don’t face them. Stop Judging us. We love our little tummies, we are happy the way we look, we don’t want to hit the gym to like any friggin’ actor. We love who we are, how we are, and won’t do anything about it, period.
