Thejaswi Udupa and Mukund S of IIM Bangalore dazzled all their way to win the South Zone leg of Acumen Quiz 2006 at IIM Bangalore here today.
The team put forward a commendable performance – they almost had double the points that runner-up team ICFAI -Bangalore had. Amidst a nail-biting competition, DoMS, IIT Madras came third and XIME-Bangalore came fourth.
Quizmaster Harsha Bhogle ensured that both the teams on stage as well as members of the audience had enough excitement all through the quiz, as was evident from the levels of audience participation.
So what are the men of the day from IIM Bangalore all about?
Mukund S graduated last year with a BE in mechanical engineering from NIT, Surathkal and immediately joined IIM Bangalore. He has been quizzing since High School days and in his words, he does not prepare for any quiz as a matter of policy. Mukund’s future plans include spending a term in France during the next three months. “My final career plans are still in the conception stage and are as such undecided,” he says.
Thejaswi Udupa insists that IIM-B was a ‘lucky accident’, something he stuck to even during the quiz when Harsha Bhogle indulged in pulling his leg about quizzing preparations.
Currently in his second year at IIM-B, Thejaswi joined the premier b-school fresh out of MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), Bangalore. Like Mukund, he too has been quizzing since high school days. “Rubbing hands in anticipation was my only preparation for the Acumen Quiz,” he says. His future plans are yet to take shape, but he is clear about working in a ‘non-finance-related job, preferably in Bangalore’.
