(ITBP) Indo-Tibetan Border Police is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces of India, raised on 24 Oct 1962, under the CRPF Act, in the wake of the Sino-Indian War of 1962. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was intended for deployment along India’s border with Tibet.
The ITBP, which started with four battalions, has since restructuring in 1978 has undergone expansion to a force of 60 Battalions with 15 Sectors and 05 Frontiers as of 2018 with a sanctioned strength of 89,432.

Essential Qualification
Super Specialist Medical Officers (Second-in-Command)
- Graduate degree in Medicine (MBBS) or equivalent from a recognized university/Institution.
- Candidate must have enrolled in any State Medical Register maintained under the Act
- Candidate should have completed compulsory rotatory internship
- Candidate must possess Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in related Speciality as mentioned in Section ‘A’ or Section ‘B’ in Schedule I to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 or equivalent, and
- Candidate must possess Doctorate of Medicine (DM) or Magister Chirurgie (M.Ch.) or equivalent.
Specialist Medical Officers (Deputy Commandant)
- Medical Qualification of allopathic system of medicines
- Completion of rotating internship
- Must possess Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in concerned speciality.
Medical Officers (Assistant Commandant)
- Medical Qualification of allopathic system of medicines
- Completion of rotating internship

Maximum: 50 years
Specialist Medical Officers (Deputy Commandant)
Maximum: 40 years
Medical Officers (Assistant Commandant)
Maximum: 30 years
Upper Age limit is relaxable by:
3 years for OBC (Non Creamy Layer).
5 years for SC/ST candidates.
