(Part 2)
But again the question reverts to “Why CAT”??
Maybe one simple answer could be that CAT is the only management based entrance examination whose scores are widely accepted by most, in fact all of the prestigious B-schools and IIMs. So instead of asking “Why CAT”, the more appropriate question would be “Why MBA”?? After all, one bells the CAT with the sole purpose of obtaining that icing on the cake- the “MBA” degree. If you expand the letters of MB A, even a lame person who understands English but never came across such a word, could easily figure it out that MBA has something to do with business and hovers around management level.
So why MBA?? Some may argue that even though many companies promise us an excellent career path plus the handsome package, it isn’t equivalent to the package that will be bestowed upon us after one attains the MBA degree. And as expected, the entire hullabaloo about MBA eventually boils down to “Money” and of course why it shouldn’t. After all, even if “money cannot buy happiness” as the phrase goes, it can definitely “buy some luxuries of life which can give at least some amount of happiness, be it for a short period of time”. So those who preach that “money is not everything in life”, I just hope they have lived and earned enough before they voice such opinions. Undoubtedly “money” is one of the strongest driving factors in this rat race or to be precise the CAT race. But again, strangely what intrigues me is that in what manner could those CAT aspirants wishing to pursue MBA with the sole motive of getting a fat package actually convince the panel in front of them that they wish to pursue MBA just to “increase the end no. of zeros in their pay-package.” And interestingly, even such aspirants know that it would be a “self-invitation to rejection” by blurting out their actual intentions of pursuing this degree. So in such a precipice where the stakes are high, and you couldn’t risk your MBA degree for reasons whatsoever; the life-savior “Google” comes to the rescue. The reasons to pursue MBA or rather the answer to “why MBA” is actually just a click away, in this hi-tech generation. The search results will present you infinite number of reasons to fool the panel into why “you” wish to pursue MBA, keeping aside the mercenary gains. But then, are you fooling the panel or yourselves by resorting to the Google help?
We just had a look into those CAT aspirants who just wish to “earn more and more” in their lives and “how”- with the help of their trump card – MBA. They can jump into any river with the license of MBA as long as they find pearls and precious stones to play with. But then what about remaining Indian Junta? (to be contnd..)
