FORE School of Management has felt the need to keep pace with the needs of a globalised economy. International exchange of students, faculty and joint research are some of the means to provide that edge to FSM. In the last few years FSM has strengthened the process through international exchange of students and faculty with foreign universities and B Schools, research cooperation and a weeklong ‘international immersion’ of students at a foreign location. In addition to a large number of faculty members regularly visiting foreign universities to present papers, the entire team of faculty members visits an international location every year for exchange of views with the local industry and academia.
International Exchange: FORE has entered into MOUs with following entities for exchange of students and members of faculty and co-operation in research:
- ESC Rennes, School of Business, Rennes, France
- Faculty of Business, University of New Brunswick, Canada
- College of Business Administration, Savannah State University (Georgia), USA
- Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok
There are more such MOUs in advanced stages of discussion in UK, Switzerland, USA and Canada.
Faculty Development through International Exchange: As a regular practice, members of faculty visit an international location that has strong trade or cultural links with India. During the visit the members of faculty interact with academics from a local university to exchange views on subjects of mutual concern. The exchange extends to the local industry also. In the last few years faculty have visited Bangkok, Dubai and China. This year they will be visiting Malaysia during October.
‘International Immersion Programme’: From the current academic year, students are to be taken to an international location for a week long programme of class-room inputs at a reputed local university and an industry/port visit. Students from PGDM (International Business), for example, will be taken to the Nanyang Technological University, Faculty of Business for academic inputs on topics related to international business, trade and logistics and they would also be given an overview of an international port through a visit to the Singapore Port. The students of PGDM, on the other hand, will be visiting the Faculty of Business, Hong Kong Polytechnic University during the same period.
