We are starting with a new series of articles in order to bring to you more information about engineering colleges and institutions from the North-eastern part of India. In these articles, we shall take an in-depth look at colleges from the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
Each of these articles would give you a comprehensive
understanding of a college and its profile and the selection process for
admission to that particular college. We would also try to provide information
about cut-offs for admission to that institute. In the recent past, there have
been quite a few positive developments when it comes to technical education in
the North East. Institutes of national importance like the Indian Institutes of
Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian
Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) have recently been started in
these north eastern states. Thus, the North-east is well on its way to becoming
an important hub of higher education in India.
In this article, let
us take a look at Institute of Science & Technology, Jalukbari.
The Institute of Science & Technology was established in the
year 2009 in the Gauhati University campus. The institute is approved by the
AICTE, New Delhi and is affiliated to the Gauhati University. The institute has
all necessary infrastructure in the campus like a well stock library, well
equipped labs, sports and recreational facilities.
The institute admits students on the basis of their performance
in the Assam CEE and provides undergraduate programs in Electronics &
Communication engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information
Technology and Bio Technology. While the department of Bio Technology admits 18
