Women of India have been facing prejudices even after the Independence. They are treated as an object and someone who should be oppressed. The root cause is when we stereotype them and limit their boundaries. This creates a biased perception about them.
The problem begins as soon as women are born. Parents expecting boy child, think of girl as a burden on their family. They believe that the girl has to get married and will leave them someday, so she doesn’t belong to them. This notions creates a picture that girl child is always costing parents.
Women are fed with a thought of beautification since their childhood. Instead of appreciating them for their smartness , thinking, intelligence and hard work they are always looked upon as someone who should have physical beauty. Being born as a girl they are treated as someone who is weak, who should be kept in home and who needs someone to take their responsibility. Regrettably this makes them mentally and psychologically weak and they start thinking that they always needs someone by their side. It makes them more dependent on their counterpart.
Undoubtedly the way a child is nourished and treated is reflected in his/her personality when they grown up. Since from childhood we start categorizing women as weak, oppressed , dependent and object of beauty we reducing their chances of development. This cycle repeats itself from one women to other.
I believe we should have open minded approach and we should not decide how a girl child should be or will be. Instead we should give them full support and help them to get out of these categorizations.
