The closing ceremony of the 32nd Inter-IIT Aquatics Meet will be held this evening (October 5, 2016) at the host institute, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K). IIT Madras is on the top of the medals and point tally with 10 medals, and 41 points, followed by IIT Delhi, with nine medals, and 35 points, IIT Bombay in the third place with eight medals and 32 points, and the host institute in the fourth place, with five medals and 17 points.
The highlight of the Meet is CK Anand Krishnan who set a new meet record of completing the 50-meter men’s freestyle in just 26.81 seconds. 136 players from 11 IITs took part in events ranging from freestyle to strokes, and relay to water polo matches.
Robinson Guria, General Secretary of the Games and Sports Council at IIT-K, shares his moments of joy. “I feel privileged that IIT-K hosted the 32nd Inter-IIT Aquatics meet in my tenure. Only the fortunate contingent leaders get this opportunity,” expressed Guria.
The main attraction of this meet and the most awaited event, the finals of the Water Polo match is yet to be played between IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur. The whole of IIT-K is expected to be present to cheer for the institute.
