The India International Science Festival is yet to begin today and will be held for four days in Kolkata. This event acts as the biggest platform to showcase India’s talent and achievements in the fields of Science and Technology amongst the presence of students, researchers, scientists, public, and many innovators.
The motive of the festival is to inculcate a scientific temper and to showcase the advancements and achievements of India in the field of Science and Technology. The event is organized by the Ministry of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences and Vijnana Bharati in collaboration.
The prime minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, will inaugurate the grand event by his speech through video conference at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata on 04:00 pm today. Many state and central ministers including the Science and Technology, Earth Sciences and Health and Family Welfare, Mr Harsh Vardhan will be a part of this event. The authorities have also organized a theme “ancient to modern” to showcase the essence of Vedic and Modern science where cultural activities like musical yoga, dance, Nukkad Natak, etc. will be performed.
Started in the year 2015, India International Science Festival thrives on promoting Science and Technology to the masses by spreading awareness on how the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) helps us in all aspects of our daily lives and making it better.
Along with the Science Fair, an International Science Literature Festival (Vigyanika) and also an International Science Film Festival (ISFFI) is being hosted by the organizing authorities. It is said that more than 30 publishers will be displaying their scientific publications in the Literature Festival. More than 12,000 school and college students are expected to attend the grand 4-day event in Kolkata.
The very first India International Science Festival was hosted at Indian Institute of Delhi, in which India set a world record of 2000 school students performing two experiments.
