The largest laterals batch across all premier business schools, at IIMC attracted the crème de la crème amongst firms in India and abroad as well as the most coveted jobs on offer.
International Offers
IIM Calcutta attracted a host of companies offering positions across the globe. Prominent international recruiters included Johnson Electric, Microsoft, Mittal Steel and SAP International Consulting Group. The number of international offers has reached a figure of 21 this time.
Strong Financial Focus
The laterals this year reinforced the image of the campus as a B school with a financial bent with the participation of JP Morgan, ICICI Bank, ICICI Lombard and Dell Analytics among others. This is acting as a precursor to the finals where a number of new financial firms are expected to come on campus including SUN group, the private equity major, which recruits only from IIM Calcutta.

- The number of overseas offers has seen an increase from 14 in 2005 to 21 in 2006.
- Compared to only 39 offers accepted last year, 65 offers have already been made to the laterals batch till date with more companies flocking the campus to pick the best talent in the country.
- IIM Calcutta also witnessed unparalleled diversity in the kind of firms and the roles offered during the laterals process. Students had a bevy of options including Consulting, International Manufacturing, Finance, Marketing, IT and ITeS, Operations and Human Resources.
- The Compensation packages have varied from Rs.7.5 l.p.a to Rs 16.2 l.p.a (the highest Indian offer in laterals ever across all campuses) and international packages have been up to $85000 USD p.a this year
- Microsoft, SAP International Consulting Group, Johnson Electric, recruited exclusively from IIM Calcutta in the Laterals Process.
- Some of the other significant recruiters at IIM Calcutta were IBM, Hewlett Packard, PricewaterhouseCoopers, CSC, Cognizant, Cap Gemini, Ernst & Young, Hindustan Lever Limited, ITC, Asian Paints, Sapient, TSMG, Oracle and GE.
