IIM-Rohtak to give more weightage to female and non-engineering students

While the overall admission process of Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (IIM-R) for its 8th PGP Batch 2017-19 is expected to remain the same, it has raised its diversity component in its admission process by 25% from the previous year, giving increased importance to female and non-engineering candidates.

Doing away with the stereotype of getting a majority of applications from engineering and male candidates, the institute decided to modify the admission process by giving more weightage to female and non-engineering applicants this batch before the commencement of admissions. Female candidates and non-engineering students will be assigned a grace score of 75 marks as against 60 in the previous year.

The total number of seats at the institute is expected to be between 150 and 160 this time and while the total CAT score has been reduced from 165 last year to 150 this year, the individual scores of each of the components ie Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation/Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability /Reading Comprehension has each increased from 45 in the previous year to 50 this year.

However, the overall process would, by and large, remain unchanged. The Personal Appearance (PA) process will be on the basis of the CAT 2016 cutoff and candidate profile. Those shortlisted will be expected to participate in the common PA rounds held by the new IIMs.
